Court / Private court appearances

TWO separate petition cases called in private at Lerwick Sheriff Court on Wednesday.

William Mays, whose address was given as Shetland, faced three assault charges, including one which involved severe injury.

Appearing from custody, the 46-year-old was also charged with a contravention of the air weapons and licensing (Scotland) act.

Mays made no plea, was committed for further examination and was released on bail.

Meanwhile Darren Boxwell, of Shetland, appeared from custody on two contraventions of the misuse of drugs act.

The 33-year-old was released on bail after making no plea and being committed for further examination.
