Man admits brandishing knife at warehouse staff
A MAN from Lerwick has admitted brandishing a knife and running towards J.W. Grays staff earlier this year.
Cory Williamson, 25, also climbed to the top of the roof shelving, refused to leave the warehouse and then attempted to barricade himself in an office on 22 May.
Williamson, of Hoofields, admitted behaving in a threatening or abusive manner during the incident when he appeared at Lerwick Sheriff Court today (Thursday).
His case had been due to go to trial, but defence solicitor Sam Morrison said she had been able to tender a guilty plea earlier this week to spare any witnesses giving evidence.
Sheriff Jennifer Gear decided not to hear a narration of the case, and deferred sentencing on Williamson for the preparation of social work reports.
Procurator fiscal Duncan Mackenzie also asked the Crown to consider forfeiture of the knife in this case.
Williamson will return for sentencing on 18 November. The Crown will hear a narration of the case then, and will consider the motion for forfeiture.
