News / Fashion brand Oasis looks to museum for inspiration
A NATIONAL fashion company has released a new winter range inspired by Shetland Museum and Archives’ collection of textiles.
The Oasis range includes a Fair Isle-influenced jumper and scarf.
The brand’s design director Clive Reeve contacted the museum in February to learn more about its textiles collection.
Curator Dr Carol Christiansen sent Oasis images for the collection and explained the history of Fair Isle knitwear and how it differs from more common Norwegian patterns.
Shetland Amenity Trust marketing officer Emma Miller said the range was a “contemporary spin on traditional design and looks great”.
