News / Mackay runs for Scotland
SHETLAND athlete Seumas Mackay has been chosen to represent Scotland in the 800-metre distance at the U18 Celtic Games, to be held in Dublin on 5 August.
The 17 year old won a gold medal for the isles at the recent islands games, in Gotland, in a time of 1.53.32min.
A spokeswoman for Shetland Athletic Club said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for Seumas and a great achievement as only one athlete is selected per event for this match.
“He continues to go from strength to strength through a lot of hard work and discipline and is reaping the rewards on a regular basis.”
Mackay has also been selected as one of the five athletes for the 4 x 400m relay team.
