News / Faulkner to return
SINGER-songwriter and acoustic guitar wizard Newton Faulkner has confirmed his return to Shetland as part of an autumn UK tour.
The Englishman will perform at Mareel in Lerwick on 24 October, with tickets on sale now.
Faulkner previously played at the arts venue back in 2014, while four years prior to that he took to the stage at the Clickimin.
The musician shot to fame in 2007 with the release of his debut album Hand Built By Robots, which topped the UK chart.
Faulkner also reached No.1 with his third effort Write It On Your Skin in 2012.
His latest record, Human Love, was released in 2015.
Promoter Davie Gardner of Atlantic Edge Music Services hailed Faulkner as “one of the best solo live performers I’ve ever seen”.
October is already shaping up to be a treat for music lovers in Shetland, with Idlewild singer Roddy Woomble due to perform a solo full-band show at Mareel on 7 October.
Chart-topping indie-pop outfit Scouting For Girls will also play the Lerwick venue on 26 October.
