News / Memorial marks sinking of E49 submarine

FAMILY members of those who died, representatives from the Royal Navy, local politicians and many islanders gathered at Baltasound on Sunday to pay respect to 31 seamen who died 100 years ago when their E49 submarine struck a German mine on 12 March 1917 just off Unst.
