ONE of the late Davie Henderson’s sons is to climb to Everest base camp in his memory to raise money for the British Heart Foundation later this year.

Thirty two year old Steven Henderson, who lives in Hoswick, says he will be “fulfilling a life long ambition, but above all I will be doing it in memory of my dad and grandmother who sadly passed away with heart conditions in 2014”.

His father Davie was known as one of Shetland’s biggest ambassadors through his pivotal role on the Shetland Folk Festival committee.

So far Steven, who will climb to Everest base camp via the Gokyo Lakes, has raised over £3,000 from 104 donations on a Just Giving page.

He said: “The experience will be memorable but this trek can go much further if I can raise funds that will make a difference to the British Heart Foundation. I will be working hard to reach my target and all your support is hugely appreciated.”
