- Every household in Scotland is due to receive a booklet explaining the benefits of remaining part of the Uk, Scottish secretary Alistair Carmichael said on Thursday.

- The NorthLink cargo vessel Hildasay is due to undergo repairs on Thursday night after suffering starboard engine failure while on passage from Aberdeen to Kirkwall and Lerwick.
- Shetland Islands Council is currently providing work experience placements to 12 young people who are unemployed and are seeking to develop skills with the aim of moving into long-term employment.
