Letters / Scotland hand knitted
Here in NE Fife, we’ve started a crazy project for the independence campaign – but this is an inclusive, not an exclusive one.
‘Scotland Handknit’ is about knitting a map of Scotland.
We’re involving women from all over Scotland (and elsewhere). The knitters are all ages, from young women to someone in a nursing home.
They include ‘no’ voters in the referendum, ‘yes’ voters and undecided voters.
Each knitter will knit a piece approximately A4 in size. It’s really taken off and we have the whole country covered – except for Orkney and Shetland.
We could use a mainland knitter but would really prefer the Shetland Isles to be knitted by someone who lives in Shetland.
Please can you help us in our quest?
More details and information about how to apply from Lissa Herron at scotmapknitters@gmail.com and in the article, which was on the National Collective website.
Thank you for your help.

Shetland News is asking its many readers to consider start paying for their dose of the latest local news delivered straight to their PC, tablet or mobile phone.
Journalism comes at a price and because that price is not being paid in today’s rapidly changing media world, most publishers - national and local - struggle financially despite very healthy audience figures.
Most online publishers have started charging for access to their websites, others have chosen a different route. Shetland News currently has over 600 supporters who are all making small voluntary financial contributions. All funds go towards covering our cost and improving the service further.
Your contribution will ensure Shetland News can: -
- Bring you the headlines as they happen;
