Letters / Give it a rest
I am becoming very confused with Ian Tinkler and SuS’s arguments on VE.
Initially it was a straight forward question should VE be allowed to build the wind farm or not, reasons against: peat disturbance, CO2 levels etc etc; reasons for: not so much pollution from power stations, free wind etc etc.
No one complains about the ones that are up and running now, so what about now that Total is building a gas plant and Yell is going to build a wind farm; do we have Ian and SuS up in arms threatening to take them to court? No.
According to Ian, what Total and Yell are doing means nothing and is irrelevant. He says he’s not bothered about it, so does this mean he just wants to choose what he likes to complain about? Maybe he’s the one that’s ignorant.
If he and SuS are so concerned about peat disturbance and CO2 emissions then it should not matter whether it’s one square metre or 100 square kilometres, their fight should still be the same.
I’m not saying I am a fan of VE, but I just wish that these people that harp on about them week in and week out would either give it a rest or start fighting against things like Total and the Yell project.
