Letters / We have no choice

As recent news unfolds on the date of the Scottish independence vote, Tavish’s bold counter claim for Shetland’s own independence and the plight of Euro savers in Cyprus, it is very clear that there are only three rational courses of action.

Firstly we have no choice even here in Shetland but to support the vote for independence.

Westminster and its despicable Tory/Liberal Democrat social terrorism alliance and all previous administrations have willy-nilly rubber stamped just about every EU rule and regulation, backed up with draconian enforcement that the UK cannot compete anymore in the Eurozone let alone the world.

Only countries that are full member states can decide to ignore, object or say “No” to silly rules that do not work in the interests of that country or member state.

Until we get independent country status, Scotland will remain tied to an English government representative on the end of a bit of string under the table, with little or no say about how these rules affect Scotland.

Secondly get out of the EU.

Quite why we are still in the corrupt, over bureaucratic and politically inept EU is another question, but it certainly has and is making it very difficult to live and work in such marginal and peripheral areas such as the Highlands and Islands and without question no home or business would join something that year on year costs hugely more to be a member of, than any benefits coming back.

If the UK had never joined the Common Market we would have saved literally billions of pounds and would now be one of the richest small states in the world, not withstanding this and previous governments’ obsession with trying to drown bankers in our money despite losing vast sums in their gambling greed.

Thirdly, the poor Cypriot savers.

The Euro banking fiasco happening in Cyprus and lippering in Spain, Italy, Ireland etc is a perfect example of why a single currency system operating over a huge area of distinctly different economies, values and cultures is doomed to fail.

But what folk outside this stupid economic game should take note of is the pressure from Germany to force the Cypriot authorities to conduct legalised government theft of folks’ savings.

If I were unfortunate enough to live in a Euro state I would now be taking any savings I had out of the bank and putting it into a box under the stairs as the burglar risk is now far lower than institutional banking fraud, state theft, corruption and greed.

Yes we need interdependence from Westminster just to have a say at the top table and determine what is best for Scotland and if folk don’t like or trust Alex Salmond, don’t fret he is just another politician and can be voted out, but at least he has Scotland’s interests at heart which is demonstrably more obvious than Cameron, Clegg & Milliput!

After Scottish independence we can then look at getting out of the corrupt Federal States Of Europe and show the SNP the folly of their love of the silly Monopoly money euro.

Then we can regain our fishing rights, a more appropriate agricultural system that suits Scotland/Shetland/Orkney rather than France and a host of other benefits not available in this one-size-fits-all disaster that the EU is.
