News / Prizes for competition winners
During the weekend all the winners of our Christmas competition were awarded their prizes from our sponsors for identifying the old shops of Lerwick.
Our first prize winner Marjory Williamson from Whalsay nominated her daughter Jenna Williamson to collect the Firefox Stove on her behalf along with her children Gibby and Nicole, which was presented to her by Rod Robb of Lerwick Building Centre.
Second prize went to Holly Mclatchie of Cunningsburgh, who at 4½ years old will probably be bartering her £300 walkonit.com voucher with her mum for a play house!
And finally, Desley Ritch, on behalf ofher Relay for Life team the Sella Ness Superstars, collected the £200 voucher from Caroline and Stuart of Harry’s Department Store.
Desley said that the team had all contributed to answering the questions and couldn’t believe they won third prize.
Relay for Life is on 26 May this year and so the team decided to donate their prize to the raffle being held as part of a fundraiser at the Voe Hall on Sunday 1April. There will be a car boot sale and Sunday teas too so look out for further information nearer the time.
Desley said that a work colleague’s daughter hadjust been diagnosed with cancer before Christmas, which makes winning theprize for the Relay for Life even more important to all those involved.
Shetland News would also like to give a big thank you to all those involved: the prize-givers, Harry’s Department Store, walkonit.com and Lerwick Building Centre. Also to Jenny Murray, Emma Miller and Ian Tait of the Shetland Museum& Archiveswho assisted in the collation and use of the images that were used. And finally to all of our readers who entered the competition.
