News / Grödians receives ‘special mention’
SHETLAND practice Richard Gibson Architects have received a ‘special mention’ for their Grödians project at last week’s Best Building in Scotland awards ceremony, held by the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland (RIAS).
Adrian Wishart, who attended the ceremony in the Scottish parliament, said: “We are delighted that Grödians reached this level in the awards as it is quite a modest project in comparison with some of the other entries.”
He added that Gibsons would like to thank Hjaltland Housing Association and the tenants for allowing the RIAS judges to see inside some of the houses when they visited in October.
The project is also due to be featured, in detail, this week by the world architecture website www.archdaily.com
The winning project was the £47 million restoration of the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh, undertaken by Gareth Hoskins Architects Ltd, who also designed Shetland’s new music and cinema venue Mareel.
