News / Drink driver drove through town at 60mph
AN IRISH man working in Shetland was banned from driving for two years and fined £900 after driving at twice the speed limit in Lerwick at the weekend.
Craig Fitzpatrick, of St Annes, Kilmaine, Claremorris, County Mayo, admitted driving while almost double the drink driving limit when he was stopped on Holmsgarth Road in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Officers had clocked the 37 year old driving at 60mph in road, which carries a 30mph speed limit.
Sheriff Graeme Napier banned Fitzpatrick for two years, saying he could shorten the ban by six months by attending an alcohol awareness course. He was fined £700 for the drink driving offence and £200 for speeding.
