News / Youth film festival
SCOTLAND’S leading youth film festival is returning to Shetland next month with two public screenings aimed at young people.
The Discovery International Film Festival for Young People, which is touring 18 venues throughout Scotland, will screen Louder Than A Bomb and a collection of short animated films under the title Shorts for Wee Ones 2011.
Louder Than A Bomb (12A) is about four teams taking part in a youth poetry slam involving more than 600 teenagers from over 60 schools around Chicago, the only event of its kind in the US. It shows at the museum and archives on Friday 4 November at 7.30pm.
Shorts for Wee Ones is aimed at children aged three plus, a 50 minute programme of stories from around the world, including a dragon made out of spinach, a mouse with big ears looking for the perfect owner, and a rain cloud who wants to be liked. It is screened at the museum and archives at 2pm on Saturday 5 November.
Tickets for both events are available from Shetland Box Office on 01595 745555 or www.shetlandboxoffice.org or on the door, subject to availability.
