A MAN has been charged with dangerous driving in Shetland after police sent out an appeal for witnesses last week.
On Monday Shetland police said that a 42 year old man had been reported to the procurator fiscal and thanked “a number of people” who helped with the investigation.
The police had been trying to trace the driver of a blue BMW car which they say failed to stop after veering off the main A970 at Tingwall and colliding with a fence on Thursday evening following an overtaking manoeuvre.
Meanwhile police are still looking for the driver of a silver estate with private plates that is alleged to have continued southbound after causing another vehicle to take evasive action on the main A970 at Gulberwick around 5.10pm on Friday.

Police also thanked local people for helping after a 34 year old man was arrested for drink driving in Scalloway on Sunday afternoon.
Over the weekend officers arrested two young men aged 20 and 22 following a disturbance in a house in Lerwick’s Bruce Crescent. A report is to be submitted to the fiscal.
They issued a fixed penalty for drinking in public in Lerwick to a 32 year old man and have reported three households to Shetland Islands Council after attending noisy parties.
