Fetlar on TV

BBC’S One Show visited Fetlar recently to film the auditions for the film Between Weathers, which is to be shot on the island.

They were also keen to catch up on the islands’ progress since it was last featured on the show around four years ago.

The first feature follows Fetlar progress since the last show and is planned to be aired on Tuesday night (30 August).

The second feature focussing on the film is planned to go out on Friday night (2 September). The One Show is shown on BBC1 from 7pm.

Whalsay take the league

ON Friday in the G&S Flooring Premier League:

Celtic 1 v 4 Whalsay

This had been billed as a title decider if the Hoops had won, but now the title’s in Whalsay’s hands as Keith Pearson and Eric Thomson hit two each to win. Roy Wood got the consolation for Celtic. Whalsay can now retain their championship with their games in hand.

Scalloway 0 v 6 Ness United

Ness put in their best performance and got the result of the season over the village side. James Farmer hit a hat trick while Kieran Malcolmson, Kevin Smith and Tomas Smith also scored.

Whitedale 1 v 3 Delting

Jamie Wilson had put on-form Whitedale in front, however Ross MacDougall and a Ross Jamieson brace meant the Delts came away with the points at Strom.
Reserve league matches were called off due to the weather and the state of the pitches

Right to vote

ADULTS in Shetland are being encouraged to update the information on the electoral register to ensure they can vote in next May’s council elections.

The local electoral registration office has sent out forms to every household asking people to fill them in and send them back, including owners of vacant properties.

Anyone who has not received a form or has any questions about the Register of Electors, can contact the Electoral Registration Office at Charlotte House, Commercial Road, Lerwick, or phone 01595 745700 or write to ero@shetland.gov.uk.
