News / Police investigate dangerous driving
SHETLAND police are again appealing for witnesses following yet another case of alleged dangerous driving.
Acting sergeant Dave Sweeney said on Saturday morning that officers were trying to trace the driver of a silver estate car with a personalised number plate.
Police said the car, travelling southbound on the A970 at Gulberwick, was involved in a dangerous overtaking manoeuvre into the face of oncoming traffic.
This forced the oncoming traffic to take evasive action to avoid collision. The incident happened at around 5.10pm on Friday afternoon.
Sergeant Sweeney said: “The offending vehicle continued southbound on the A970 road following the incident.
“Any person with information as to the identity of the driver and vehicle, or who witnessed the incident, is requested to contact Lerwick police station.”
On Friday, police were looking for the driver of a blue BMW car following a similar incident that led the BMW to veer of the road and collide with a fence.
