It’s your future
Following Chris Cope’s excellent article on energy plan proposals for Shetland, e.g. renewable energy or other large scale industrial developments; it is your right, in fact your civic duty – if you care about where you live – to contribute and participate, for your future.
Right for community councils to have their say on energy development, minister says
It is written into the legislation at both Westminster (establishment of unitary local authority councils 1974/78) and the creation of the national planning framework (NPF4).
It is our right, nae, our civic duty a part of civil society to participate by commenting/questioning.
Go to it, as an individual or in small groups. If you need help or advise understand any of the planning and technical language often used, go to Planning Aid Scotland, a charitable company, paid for partly by the Scottish Government to help citizen.
Go to it, make a night if it, ‘Planning in the Pub’, ‘Home Planning Party’ etc. All you need is a map of what is under consideration, a rough drawing would do, paper, coloured pens and off you go!!!
Go to it. Two to three hours of your life spent helping create your, your children and grand- children’s positive, sustainable future. What a legacy to leave.
