Housing / Converted crofthouse to feature on home of the year TV show
A HOUSE in Shetland is set to feature in an upcoming episode of BBC TV show Scotland’s Home of the Year.
Grindwell Knowe is described as a converted crofter’s house near Vidlin.
It is home to Susie and her miniature poodle, Pascha.
Originally from the US, Susie retired to Shetland in 2008 and began a major cottage renovation and extension project, which has culminated in a “beautifully extended home that celebrates its unique location”.
The BBC blurb said: “Favouring a clean, modern architectural style, homeowner Susie went as far to convert an outside byre into a guest house complete with its own sunken indoor hut tub.”
Also due to feature in the episode, which will be broadcast on BBC One Scotland on Monday 11 May at 8.30pm, will be two properties in the North East of Scotland.
They will vie for a place in the final of Scotland’s Home of the Year.
Shetland properties have featured on the TV series in the past, including houses in Kergord and Burra.
