Emergency services / Woman taken to hospital following road accident

A WOMAN has been taken to hospital after a road traffic collision on the A970 near Brindister, south of Lerwick earlier today (Wednesday).

The road is currently closed with long queues forming at both ends.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 12.20pm on Wednesday, 11 October, 2023, we were called to a report of a two-vehicle crash on the A970 near Quarff.

“Emergency services attended and a woman has been taken to Gilbert Bain Hospital for treatment.”

A spokesperson for the fire service said crews from Lerwick and Scalloway had been sent to the scene of a two-vehicle accident to help clear the road.
