Business / Gas company stops supply as business becomes ‘unviable’
ONE of Shetland’s two bottled gas suppliers has stopped the sales side of its business with immediate effect.
Zetgas said the decision was made due to “continuing issues with supply and increasing maintenance costs” which made the business unviable.
In a Facebook post last night the Hillswick-based company said it would continue gas engineering and general plumbing work.
“We have had an amazing 15 years in Shetland and have met some incredible people, and we thank you for your loyalty and support throughout the years,” the company said.
Customers have been asked to contact sales@zetgas.co.uk when they have any empty Zetgas gas bottles to arrange collection.
Shop suppliers have already been informed of the decision, and letters will be sent out to all customers.
“We understand that this news may come as a surprise, and we appreciate your patience and understanding during this transition,” the company added.
“As you can understand this hasn’t been an easy decision and therefore we will be taking a break next week and will begin the collection of empty cylinders week beginning Monday 5th June.”
Shetland News has tried to contact managing director Paul Bird and hopes to speak to him later today.
