Marine / Port authority appoints new chairman
THE MANAGING director of local engineering firm Ocean Kinetics, John Henderson, has been appointed as chairperson of Lerwick Port Authority.
He takes over from George Anderson who is retiring after serving on the board for 19 years.
Meanwhile Colin Nicolson has been appointed as deputy chair, while three new members – Sheila Keith, Colin Leask and Richard Williamson – have all joined the board as new members, bring fishing and aquaculture expertise.
Henderson said he is looking ahead to good prospects for the years ahead, noting the continued recovery through Covid and opportunities in offshore decommissioning and the renewable energy sector.
Lerwick is one of the host ports of next year’s Tall Ships Races.
Other members stepping down following long periods of service on the LPA board are Bobby Polson and James Anderson, having served 23 and 10 years respectively.
