Community / Wind farm developer contributes to fire fighters’ charity walk
TWO Shetland fire fighters raising funds for the Fire Fighters Charity by walking the length of Shetland and visiting each of the islands’ 14 stations have scooped £500 towards their appeal when they called along the main compound of the Viking Energy wind farm construction site.
James Tulloch and Ewan Anderson are part of the Shetland Brew with a Crew group aiming to raise £2,000 for the charity that supports the physical, mental and social needs of fire fighters.
The two men set off on their journey earlier in May to walk sections of their 190-mile route whenever time and work commitments allow. To add a further challenge, they are weighed down by a 20-kilo breathing apparatus.
On Thursday, they dropped in at the compound, near Sandwater, and were presented with cheques of £250 each from SSE Renewables and main contractor RJ McLeod.
So far, the Shetland team has raised almost £2,000. Their JustGiving page can be found here.
