Emergency services / Two lost on Ronas Hill
TWO WALKERS lost in thick fog near Ronas Hill on Saturday were quickly located by voluntary coastguard teams using the ‘what3words’ app.
Rescue teams from Hillswick and Lerwick were called out at around 6pm after the two walkers had already been disorientated for four hours.
A coastguard spokesperson said the teams set off from the car park on Collafirth Hill and were able to trace the two people within 45 minutes.
They were guided down Collafirth Hill towards the mouth of Ronas Voe by the Hillswick team.
The free app is a location identification system that gives people’s precise location using three dictionary words.
