Oldest trade union

Shetland News @shetnews

I suspect not many people know that the Educational Institute of Scotland is by far the oldest trade union in Shetland. The local branch was founded in 1847, shortly after the national organisation. Does anyone know where the branch’s historical records are? I would be very interested to know.
