News / Police launch Operation Luminous
SHETLAND police launched a high profile campaign to tackle illegal drugs and drinking last weekend with a series of raids on pubs in Lerwick and Brae.
More than 200 people were “scanned” by the Dogs Against Drugs charity sniffer dog, but no arrests were made.
Operation Luminous aims to target alcohol related crime, reduce anti-social behaviour and disrupt the sale of illegal drugs.
A police spokesman thanked the public for their co-operation. “Police in Shetland were pleased with the positive response from the public in relation to the operation and are committed to maintain high visibility throughout the festive period so that Shetland remains one of the safest places to live in the whole of UK.”
