News / Sumburgh emergency
A FULL emergency was issued at Sumburgh airport after the pilot of the Loganair flight from Inverness reported problems with his control system 15 miles south of the airport.
However the pilot rectified the problem within minutes by switching from autopilot to manual control and by the time the flight was 10 miles from its destination the emergency was stood down without any further action being taken.
The aircraft, which had 13 passengers and crew on board, and landed safely at 12.07pm, just over an hour behind schedule.
Sumburgh has experienced delays and disruption throughout Friday morning with the Kirkwall bound flight cancelled due to no night stopper coming in on Thursday.
