Yell ferry service back to normal timetable
SHETLAND Islands Council says the Yell Sound ferry service will now be running to its usual timetable today (Thursday).
The confirmation late on Wednesday night came after the SIC had earlier said it would be a reduced single vessel service today.
The service had been down to a single vessel on Wednesday, with the SIC pointing to the unavailability of a qualified master for the Daggri.
The travel disruption came as UnstFest celebrations got underway this week, and with events planned through to Sunday.
The SIC also said earlier on Wednesday that repairs to the Daggri’s davit are ongoing, and that a further update will be provided as the work progresses.
In Wednesday night’s update the SIC said existing bookings remain valid for Thursday with online bookings available from 7.45am.
There has been a number of disruptions on the Yell Sound ferry service in recent weeks and months, with the Dagalien for instance late in returning from dry dock earlier this summer before a recent issue with the Daggri‘s davit.
The SIC has apologised for any inconvenience caused.
