Yell service down to single vessel on Thursday

THE YELL ferry service will once again run to a single vessel timetable on Thursday, with all bookings suspended.

Shetland Islands Council said this was again due to the unavailability of a qualified master for Daggri.

The travel disruption comes just as UnstFest celebrations got underway this week, and with events planned throughout the weekend.

The SIC also said that repairs to the Daggri’s davit are ongoing, and that a further update will be provided as the work progresses.

The service will operate with a single vessel to the shift timetable on Thursday, with bookings suspended.

The reduced service tomorrow is the latest in a string of disruptions on the Yell Sound ferry service, with the Dagalien for instance late in returning from dry dock earlier this summer before a recent issue with the Daggri‘s fast rescue boat winch.

Shetland Islands Council has come in for frequent criticism because of the disruptions to those living and working in the North Isles.

The SIC apologised for any inconvenience caused.
