Passenger airlifted from Hrossey overnight
A PASSENGER was flown to hospital in Lerwick after being airlifted from the NorthLink ferry Hrossey on Thursday night.
NorthLink confirmed the ferry turned back towards Lerwick briefly to meet the coastguard rescue helicopter, which collected the passenger from the vessel.
The coastguard was called to meet the Hrossey at around 10pm.
The ferry operator said only that the passenger was airlifted due to medical reasons and was transferred to the Gilbert Bain Hospital, with the helicopter landing in Lerwick at 12.35am on Friday morning.
The Hrossey arrived in Aberdeen just before 8am this morning.
