Sun, smiles and a soaking in party atmosphere of Midsummer Carnival
THE SUN shone on the 2026 Midsummer Carnival as people lined the streets of Lerwick to enjoy the party atmosphere.
Carnival floats included a celebration of Scotland and the World Cup, Goldilocks and the three bears and a well-themed pirate ship helmed by Lerwick Amateur Swimming Club – which dished out soakings to onlookers courtesy of water guns and balloons.
The Lerwick, Nesting and South Mainland jarl squads were also on hand to give roars of appreciation, while bairns waved from fire engines that were also part of the parade.
The sunny setting helped to draw a big audience to Saturday night’s event.
The carnival helps to raise money for the Callum Younger Reach Fund, which supports young people in Shetland.
Photographer Marvin Smith was there to capture all the action for us – check out a selection of his photos below.
