Community / Tommy’s cat calendar claws in £4k for charity

Tommy basking in the glory of knowing he has just raised £4,000 for charity.

AN INTREPID cat’s fundraising exploits are showing no signs of slowing down after sales of a feline-themed calendar raised another £4,000 for Shetland-based charities.

A total of £3,200 is winging its way to the Shetland Foodbank from sales of Tommy the cat’s annual calendar.

Food For The Way will receive £300, with Shetland Cats Protection and Shetland Cat Rescue both getting £250.

To date Tommy the cat, who is known for his adventures around Lerwick, has raised just under £20,000 for the good causes.

His human companion Maggie Sandison said like previous years, calendars have been sent across the globe.

Tommy has gained fame over the years for his free-roaming adventures around Lerwick, particularly when he drops into shops and businesses.

Photos of his exploits are uploaded to the Adventures of Tommy Facebook page, which now has 9,200 followers.
