NorthLink sailings amended due to high winds

BOTH OF tonight’s (Tuesday) NorthLink sailings to and from Shetland have been affected by the weather.

The ferry operator had previously warned of the possibility of the sailings being called off due to high winds.

However, the Hjaltland will sail from Aberdeen to Shetland tonight after NorthLink amended its plans for the route.

She will leave Aberdeen at 4pm, an hour earlier than scheduled, and will no longer call at Kirkwall.

Instead she will sail directly to Lerwick, with her arrival on Wednesday also possibly being delayed by up to two hours.

The Hrossey will now also sail from Lerwick at midnight – more than seven hours later than scheduled.

She will sail directly to Aberdeen, with her arrival expected at 1pm tomorrow (Wednesday).

NorthLink had said previously this morning that both sailings were cancelled.

The freight sailing of the Hildasay has also been cancelled.

NorthLink said there was the possibility of further disruption through to Thursday (9 January).
