The ferry operator congratulated Fullerton, who works on board the company’s ferries, after reaching the huge milestone following 14 years of charity fundraising.

Fullerton said she was “over the moon” at crossing the £100k mark, and added she was “not finished yet”.

Her achievement will be celebrated at her upcoming bingo event on Halloween, Saturday 31 October.

NorthLink said Fullerton’s charity endeavours started with a simple raffle onboard at Christmas 2012 to support the Gilbert Bain Hospital renal unit – where her mother underwent kidney dialysis – and has “blossomed into a remarkable personal mission that has now raised over £100,000”.

She chose to support Muscular Dystrophy UK this after learning that Phoebe Polson from her village had been diagnosed with the condition.

Over the years she has organised everything from sponsored head shaves and abseiling down Aberdeen Royal Children’s Hospital to pop-up charity shops, knitathons, bingo and horse race nights both onboard NorthLink’s ferries and ashore.

She has even sold knitted hats and branded boat merchandise and started up Scalloway Carnival – all in aid of various charities.

NorthLink’s managing director Stuart Garrett said her commitment to fundraising was “truly remarkable” and an “inspiration to everyone at NorthLink Ferries”.

“Over more than a decade, she has shown incredible dedication and creativity in raising awareness and funds for worthy causes.

“We are proud to support her and to celebrate this impressive milestone.”

Fullerton gave a huge thank you to Garrett and to all the crew past and present aboard the Hrossey, Hjaltland and Hamnavoe for their “incredible support”.

“I’m also grateful to my family, friends and the Trondra women’s squad, my Cornerstone family, and everyone who has bought, sponsored or donated over the years.

“This wouldn’t have been possible without them.”

Kathryn’s upcoming bingo event on 31 October is already a sell-out, with prizes donated by local businesses and the local fishing fleet.
