LIVING Lerwick has said it is “very disappointed” after flowers at Harrison Square were damaged over the weekend.

The flowers, which were planted by Living Lerwick staff and participants from Cope Ltd, were ripped out and strewn across their boxes in the popular town seating area.

Living Lerwick said it would be investigating and reporting the “malicious vandalism” to the police.

It said the area has been “looking outstanding recently”, and had been commended in Lerwick Community Council’s recent summer gardening competition.

“Should the irresponsible person or persons who did this wish to redeem themselves and makegood the damage they have done, we will be happy to accept their apologies and recompense on behalf of the community, who these flowers are for,” Living Lerwick added.

Police Scotland said it had not received any reports of damage to Harrison Square as of Monday morning.
