Arts / Local short film showcase to continue

Screenplay 2023, photographed by Dale Smith.

DESPITE the film festival Screenplay coming to an end last year, Shetland Arts has confirmed that a popular local element will continue.

The Homemade event will return on Friday 6 September and Sunday 8 September at Mareel.

It allows local filmmakers the chance to share their work, and is now in its 18th year.

Previous Screenplay curator Kathy Hubbard will be joined by Logan Nicolson and Cara McDiarmid to front the Homemade team, with support from Shetland Arts staff to deliver the event.

Submitted films must be no longer than four minutes and suitable for general viewing.

The deadline for film submissions is Wednesday 7 August at midnight. More details can be found here.

Shetland Arts’ Screenplay festival was last held in 2023 as Hubbard, Mark Kermode and Linda Ruth Williams curated it for the final time.
