Education / Schools and nurseries to close on Thursday due to windy forecast
THE COUNCIL says all schools and early learning settings in Shetland will be closed tomorrow (Thursday) due to high winds being forecast.
The Met Office has issued a yellow warning of wind for tomorrow for the northern half of the UK.
Storm force winds are forecast across the north of Scotland from early morning, with winds gusting up to 80mph for a time across Shetland.
Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) Distribution has also announced that it is bringing in additional teams to deal with any damage to the power network as a result of the forecast high winds.
Disruption on inter-island ferries and public service buses is expected tomorrow.
