Transport / Friday’s ferries cancelled
FERRIES to and from Shetland will be cancelled for a second day in a row due to the windy weather.
After NorthLink previously confirmed there would be no sailings today (Thursday), Friday’s have now been cancelled too.
This affects both the passenger and freight sailings.
Saturday’s sailings remain under review with a high probability of cancellation.
Meanwhile there are no inter-island flights in Shetland today due to the weather, and flights in and out of Sumburgh airport were all cancelled this afternoon.
Inter-island ferries are also affected, with Bluemull Sound and Skerries suspended. Whalsay is running a single vessel from Vidlin.
A detailed forecast for various locations across Shetland can be found at our weather pages at https://www.shetnews.co.uk/weather/lerwick/
Meanwhile as the ferries are called off, stock levels on supermarket shelves are beginning to be affected – this was the bread aisle in Tesco shortly before midday on Thursday.
