NorthLink opens 2027 bookings – while Loganair offers sale
BOOKINGS have now opened up for the NorthLink Ferries through to the end of 2027.
There are also updated fares in place for 2027, which comes with slight increases.
The cost of an inner four-berth cabin for islanders travelling from Lerwick to Aberdeen will rise from £73 to £74.22, while the price of taking a car is up to £80.07 from £78.
Delays in longer-term ferry bookings opening up have often been criticised in recent years, however the government says it needs to wait for the release of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) before setting fares.
Meanwhile Loganair is also offering fare-free flights for children aged 11 and under across its network, when they travel with a full-fare paying adult.
Customers can book between Tuesday 8 and Tuesday 15 September 2026, for travel from Thursday 1 October onwards.
This comes alongside a network-wide 17 per cent autumn ‘tartan’ sale.
The news comes ahead of a meeting of Shetland’s external transport forum this afternoon (Tuesday).
NorthLink has also issued its 2027 timetable.
The base fare for the Lerwick-Aberdeen route for adults will increase from £19.20 to £19.71.
Although the price for cabins is increasing, life-flats (£30 for islanders) and sleeping pods (£18) will stay the same.
It comes after the government removal of seasonal fares on the service last year.
For Loganair, the airline’s summer 2027 schedule is now on sale.
It said its children flying ‘fare-free’ is designed to make forward planning more affordable for families. Taxes and surcharges will still apply to the child booking.
