Emergency services / Coastguard assists LNG tanker with engine fault
THE WORLD’S largest LNG (liquified natural gas) multi gas carrier is currently being towed to Dales Voe for repairs.
Shetland coastguard was called to assist the Ineos Intrepid 70 miles west of Sumburgh Head overnight from Sunday to Monday.
The 180-metre vessel experienced a mechanical fault. The vessel has 19 crew on board.
The emergency towing vessel Ievoli Black is now taking her to Lerwick for repairs and are currently off the south mainland.
The coastguard confirmed that there is no risk of pollution.
