Community / Shetland filming due to kick off in Tingwall area next week
FILMING is due to start on series eight of Shetland next week.
The series marks the introduction of Ashley Jensen as the lead character after Douglas Henshall left the BBC crime drama.
Filming is due to start on Tuesday (4 April) and will continue in various locations around Shetland until 21 April.
A second block of filming is scheduled for June.
On Tuesday and Wednesday a series of ‘stop/go’ traffic holds will be in operation in the Tingwall Valley.
These will be in operation between midday and 11.30pm on Tuesday and 11am to 10pm on Wednesday.
The holds will not be in place for the entire duration of the day, but when they are applied, they will last no longer than a few minutes.
The main filming locations will be the kirk and the house immediately across the road.
Access to properties along this route will be maintained at all times, the team behind the filming said.
There will be a significant amount of technical support vehicles stationed in, and entering exiting from, the Tingwall Kirk car park throughout these times.
