THE B9071 road between Vidlin and Laxo will be closed during the day tomorrow (Friday) to remove fuel and recover the tanker that came off the road near Skelberry earlier today.

Shetland Islands Council said the the road will be open between 2pm and 3.30 to allow for school transport.

Traffic will be able  to pass along the road from 1pm to 2pm.

The removal of fuel is necessary to make the vehicle safe prior to it being lifted back onto the road.

Meanwhile, motorists are asked to proceed with caution  and to keep their speed down while the vehicle is lying at the roadside near the Skelberry junction.

A police spokesperson said the incident happened at around 9.30am and that no one was injured.
