Coronavirus / Folk reminded to be kind towards ‘tired’ health staff this winter as pandemic workload continues
PEOPLE are being encouraged to show “kindness and respect” to health and care staff this winter after a tough last 20 months.
NHS Shetland chairman Gary Robinson made the plea at a meeting of the health board on Tuesday.
He said the organisation has some “very tired people at the moment” after the workload of the Covid pandemic.
Robinson paid tribute to the staff’s efforts over since last spring, but he said for some respite over the Christmas break is unlikely due to the Omicron variant of Covid.
The health board is anticipating a rise in Covid cases due to the more transmissible variant – and the booster programme is set to ramp up significantly.
“We know it’s going to be very busy,” Robinson warned.
His plea was for anyone using NHS services to be “kind and considerate towards staff”.
