WESTSIDE Pine has won this year’s Living Lerwick best town centre Christmas window display competition.

The Esplanade shop received 79 out of the 296 votes cast, with Ninian coming second with 46 and the Shetland Community Bike Project third with 44 votes.

Westside Pine’s Janet Davidge said she was “delighted” with the award.

Living Lerwick acting chairman Steve Mathieson added: “It’s great to see that the public are really taking part in the best town centre Christmas window display competition.

“This is only the third year we’ve done it. The number of votes received has more than doubled and the amount of effort that has clearly gone into some of the window displays this year is amazing. The standard is very high.”

Living Lerwick, meanwhile, has under gone something of a director overhaul in the last few weeks after its first business improvement district term came to an end.

David Coe (Ninian), Edna Irvine (Smith & Robertson), Jamie Tonge (Aa’ Fired Up), Dave Williams (Mirrie Dancers Chocolatier) and COPE’s Ingrid Webb have all joined as directors.

Existing members Stewart Jamieson (Harry’s) and Ben Mullay (The Camera Centre) are still on board.
