Roots provide inspiration for Bigton exhibition

A “MULTI-media immersive experience” is on show at Hymhus in Bigton during the summer holidays in the form of a new exhibition.

The community exhibition is based on the theme ‘roots’, and it is said to feature creative contributions from a number of different artists and makers from various groups which use Hymhus.

They are Bigton Writers, Creative Explorers, Bigton Band, Songwriters’ Sanctuary, Musical Playtime, Hymhus Parent Support Group, Friday Friends and Hymhus Straw Makers.

Stakkadale Coffee is also running a daily pop-up café alongside the exhibition, offering food and drink to sit-in or takeaway.

The St Ninian’s Proil second-hand-shop is open daily too, while there is a treasure hunt and other activities for children.

Hymhus will be opening its doors every day during the school holidays between 10am and 2pm, except 8 and 12 August.

Hymhus is the name given to the former St Ninian’s Church, which local group the Bigton Collective bought from the Church of Scotland in 2022.

It is now used as a community hub, offering a second-hand shop as well as space for events, exhibitions and ceremonies.

The building also plays hosts to the popular Bigton Bakery every Saturday morning.
