News / Mousa Broch basking in Google limelight
THE HISTORIC Mousa Broch has received a starring role on the front page of internet search engine Google in honour of St. Andrew’s Day.
The broch features on Wednesday’s ‘doodle’ alongside other Scottish landmarks such as Cuillin Hills, Ben Nevis, Isle of Skye and Loch Lomond.
Google regularly adds animated graphics to its various home pages across the globe to mark certain days or events.
The addition of the broch to Google UK’s front page saw organisations like Historic Scotland, which owns the 13-metre structure, express their excitement on Twitter.
The broch is thought to have been constructed in 300BC and it is said to be the best-preserved structure of its kind in Scotland.
