News / Local artists exhibit at Bonhoga
AN EXHIBITION featuring wide-ranging work from three contemporary Shetland artists will go on display at the Bonhoga Gallery from Saturday.
Artwork from Peter Davis, Paul Bloomer and Niela Nell Kalra will be showcased until 11 September.
Davis’ main gallery exhibition, entitled Elemental, is inspired by Iceland and uses a range of experimental techniques such as frozen paint, ice and salt.
The artist will also give a talk at the gallery about his work on Sunday at 2pm.
In the lower gallery, Paul Bloomer will display Today, a collage of nearly 100 small ink drawings that have been created in response to everyday surroundings, as well as the current crisis in war-torn Syria.
Niela Nell Kalra meanwhile will bring her Borderlines knitwear collection to Bonhoga’s craft cabinet, with the textile artist taking inspiration from both the Shetland landscape and her Indian heritage.
Shetland Arts’ exhibition manager Jane Matthews said:”All three exhibitions are imbued with a sense of place and time and reflect the rich and diverse energy within Shetland’s contemporary art scene at the moment. We are delighted to be showcasing such local talent.”
