News / Greenock man kept in custody
A CONCRETE finisher from Greenock was remanded in custody after appearing before Lerwick Sheriff Court on Monday accused of injuring a man by punching and kicking him in the town’s Commercial Street on Saturday.
Craig Homer, of 50 Luss Avenue, pleaded not guilty to the charge but had his bail application refused. A trial date of 3 September has been set.
The court heard that the 29 year old allegedly committed the offence while on bail from Greenock Sheriff Court.
Making the case for his release on bail, defence solicitor Tommy Allan said his client was desperate to join his family on the mainland, as his oldest child was to start school in two weeks time.
Refusing bail, Sheriff Philip Mann said the allegations against Homer were very serious and if proven were likely to result in a custodial sentence.
