News / Village health centre to flit
SCALLOWAY Health Centre will shut in the middle of next month before reopening in new premises at the village’s former primary school building.
The health centre will shut at 5.30pm on Friday 14 August before reopening in its new location on Monday 24 August.
During the week of Monday 17 Friday-21 August, a reduced service of emergency GP and practice nurse clinics for Scalloway patients will operate from Lerwick Health Centre.
NHS Shetland said that only patients with urgent medical requirements would be seen at the clinics, with routine and review appointments to be arranged outwith those dates.
To arrange an appointment between 17-21 August, Scalloway patients are instructed to phone the surgery’s usual number on (01595) 880219.
Patients are asked to ensure that any repeat prescriptions are ordered before 14 August as any prescriptions not ordered by then will be subject to delay.
NHS Shetland added that car parking for the new health centre was part of a communal car park. While the health centre does not have designated parking spaces, it is requested that patients use spaces in front of the games hall.
